Happy Birthday!

Our little guy was born yesterday afternoon at 3:11pm

7 pds 5oz and so darling and precious!

There's so much to say but I don't think my brain can work so good right now- I'm a little tired.

Everything just went so well and we couldn't be more thrilled. It's still a little surreal to be look at this little boy and know he's my son, it's overwhelming and humbles me every time.

I love him so much and get so excited about every little thing. His first burp, first poop, when he sticks out his little tongue, when he looks at me with his eyes wide open. I just love him so much!

Dearest Little One,

Tomorrow I have another doctor's appointment. I'm a little sad because I the 25th is like the last day I considered a "cool birthday" in October but I guess you have your own plans.

It's okay. I got most of my work hours off so I'm not feeling as overwhelmed. I start working 6 hour shifts again on Friday though, so try to come before that if you can.
Please.

Love,

Mom

No baby yet...

But I do have...

COOKIES!!!

I had a doctor's appointment today, not much progress. Still 2 cm and 80% effaced. Who knows when the baby will come. At least I know that he will come eventually and he can't stay there forever lol

I'm still not super impatient but I am getting more tired of working. My maternity leave won't start until the baby is born so I finally just decided to start giving away and trying to trade shifts for smaller ones. So far I've had a little luck, so I'm hoping that I will continue to have luck doing so. If I don't have to work 6 hours a night I will feel a lot better and it will be easier to get past these next few days and/or week?

My next doctor's appointment is on Monday so if I don't have the baby by then we'll know what's going to happen. Keep your fingers crossed for me and baby! I don't really want an induction.

Rock Star Babies

So one of the things I am so excited for about having a boy is the adorable outfits to dress him in :P

I think little skater kids are so adorable, ever since Jack and I went to Vegas and I saw this 4 year old all decked out in cutie skater wear I have been envisioning this for our child.

Here are some things I found that I love:

I also want to find little converse or vans and a cute hat like this:

Until the baby comes I think I will be spending my time trying to keep my mind off of things by looking at baby clothes :P

Why I'm frustrated

Sooo... to preface, I really don't mind going over my due date that much because I feel like whenever the baby is ready, he is ready.

BUT, I really don't want the baby to be born on Halloween (which is a possibility if I wait because the 31st is 9 days after my due date).

My reasoning is this- 1st, it is really easy to scheduel inductions around here and the hospitals always seem to be full on holidays like Halloween because everyone wants to have their baby then. I'm planning on trying to go without any pain meds (for many reasons) and they only have 1 room with a tub in it so it's kinda like if someone has it already I'm out of luck.

2nd, I just don't want my kid to have to share his birthday with a holiday.

But then I also don't really want to be induced, because as I said before, I'm trying to go med-free and I know being induced makes this much harder if not impossible for some women.

I know it's not a huge deal to have the baby on a holiday, and probably better than the alternative of being induced, but it still just sucks.

Grrrr

He says she says...

Jack:"I think the baby's going to be late."

Me (have been feeling the same thing): "Why?"

Jack: "Because you don't act like you're about to have a baby."

Me: *sigh* "Yeah, I know."

How exactly is a woman supposed to act right before she goes into labor anyway? I can't believe I'm 39 weeks. Some days I feel way more energetic than I did earlier in the pregnancy, and besides feeling heavy and having pain in the groin and/or back all the time I don't feel like I'm about to have a baby. I just feel like... me.

I'm not like super impatient but I am kinda to the point where I'm like, okay, where is our baby? More than anything I am just kinda sick of working. I don't like working anymore, it just makes me tired and drained. That's a terrible reason to want the baby to come I know, and I'll be more tired and drained once little Tommy does make his big appearance, but still.
That and I'm concerned that every day the baby stays in there is another day he will get bigger and bigger and I will have to deliver a gargantuan sized baby!

This is all.

Final Countdown

I've had that song stuck in my head forever but anyway, yeah- it is the final countdown!! I've got like 10 more days (assuming I don't go past 40 weeks).

Jack and I had the opportunity to take a prenatal class so this weekend that's what we did. It was a good thing. I didn't really learn much that Ididn't already know but for some reason it just made me feel better about everything.

I got the CD with the rest of my maternity pictures :) This is a link to the album:

My bags are just about packed and I want to make a mix CD to bring with me to the delivery room.

More than anything I feel like I just need to sleep and catch up on sleep because pretty soon I'm not going to get any anymore. Jack and I have been going non-stop these past few days so I'm planning on sleepin in late tomorrow.

Not much else going on this is a relatively short update but maybe after my doctor's appointment on Wednesday I will have more to share!

TWO WEEKS!!

Did you read that subject heading correctly? I doubt it. Go back, read it again, this time read it the way you know I would say it if I was standing right next to you.

Something along the lines of... TWO WEEKS~!! AHH!

Okay, much better.

So I had another visit to the doctor. He said he thinks the baby will be between 6-7 pounds which helps alleviate one of my fears of having to deliver a giant baby. But who knows, the doctor could always be wrong. Personally, I'm hoping for a little little munchkin though, as long as he's healthy.

I think my baby must have very short legs or something because the doctor said the baby's head is in position and everything but I have not had a single kick in the ribs my entire pregnancy. And I barely feel any movement above my belly button at all. This could also be because like the nurse said, I have a very long torso and so the baby can't reach that high even if he is average sized. I'm 1 cm dilated which I was surprised to find out. I don't feel any different at all, I thought I would feel SOME changes as things progressed but nope, I feel the same as I did last week and the week before that (for the most part).

I got some more pictures taken last week. This time, Jack got to go with me which I was really happy about (I promised him sex and video games lol). The photographer mailed my CD this morning so when I get the pictures and have a chance to look through them all I will post them for sure.

I'm always surprised how big I look in pictures, I don't feel as big as I look in them but oh well I guess that's just life. Now that Jack and I have pictures together I think I can get away with avoiding cameras until the big day.

Now that the day is drawing closer there are so many other things to think about. My primary concern at this moment is bills and insurance. I'm pretty sure we'll be okay paying for the delivery and everything after all you can always pay over time if need be and my doctor's office said they don't have interest on their payments as long as we make a payment every month. But I'm just trying to figure out the best way to insure the baby without having to pay the extra $300 a month it would cost to put him on Jack's policy through his work. I'm also trying to figure out how much we can pay for and find a sitter. I don't think I'll really know until I get a better idea of our finances post baby but I'm at least trying to have a general game plan.

I was looking online at sittercity.com - a site I used to find baby-sitting jobs, and a lot of the people I would look at and just be like, I don't want them holding my baby! It's definitely going to be weird for me to trust someone else with my child, and the baby isn't even here yet and I already feel like that!

Pretty much everything is taken care of around the house at this point. I want to make a cushion cover for extra padding on the day bed, and I still need to hang up pictures and stuff but we have our stroller, the car seat is installed, the room is all set up and we're pretty much ready! I can't believe in just a few short days Jack ad I are going to be parents!!

This whole being pregnant thing really goes by so fast. I'm excited for not having to work for awhile (work has been draining me out lately!) and having my body back, and hopefully maybe my skin will stop breaking out, and having a little baby! I'm actually about to become a mom. It's incredible.
